Tropical Depression “Tino” weakens
MANILA, Philippines— It’s a topsy-turvy storm, once a low-pressure area intensifies as a tropical depression lately has been “weakened” but still will make “Tino” the 20th storm to enter the country this year.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated Tropical Depression “Tino” 150 kms East Northeast of Casiguran, Aurora (17.0°N, 123.5°E) with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center at 2:00 a.m. (GMT+08:00) today.
It is forecast to move West Southwest at 11 kph, PAGASA officials did not thought that the low-pressure area will be “Tino” due to its winds.
But later at 11:00 a.m, today, Tropical Depression “TINO” has weakened into a Low Pressure Area (LPA) and all storm signals have been lowered.
Cruz said that the cool winds brought by the northeast monsoon caused Tino to weaken.
Looking at the average typhoon visits yearly, there could be one to two more typhoons this month and another in December to enter the Philippine area of responsibility, said Nathaniel Cruz, deputy director of the PAGASA.
