Chiz will not run in 2010 elections
MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero announced yesterday that he will not run for the presidential and vice presidential election in May 2010.
Former NPC member, Escudero said that he will be supporting the candidacy of Liberal Party standard-bearer Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.
“I have decided that even if I’m not a candidate for president in the coming elections, I still have a role to play as a Filipino and ordinary voter,” said Escudero in a press conference at Club Filipino in San Juan.
There were reports that Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) founder Eduardo “Danding” Conjuangco Jr. refused to fund the presidential bid of Escudero leading to the resignation of the Escudero to NPC.
Christine Escudero, wife of Sen. Chiz said that it was a very painful decision for her husband.
