Dozens die in Chinese Mine Explosion

heilongjiang-sAt least eight dozens of people died in a gas explosion at a coal mine in northeastern China, Saturday morning.

The explosion took place at the Xinxing Coal Mine, in Heilongjiang province leaving 66 other people left trapped in the mine.

President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao both made instruction in the rescue operations.

The mine produces 12 million tons of coal a year, the country’s seventh largest producer of coal and the north-east’s biggest mining company.
