Dozens killed in suicide bombing in Pakistan
PESHAWAR, Pakistan – Dozens were killed and more than 70 people are wounded when a suicide bomber drove car full of explosives on a field during a volleyball tournament Friday in northwest Pakistan.
The blast occurred near Pakistan’s tribal belt, and was the first in a the Army launched a military offensive against the Taleban in the South Waziristan tribal region.
“The locality has been a hub of militant. Locals set up a militia and expelled the militant from this area. This attacks seems to be reaction to their expulsion,” Ayub Khan, local police chief told reporters.
The police said that the bomber drove on to the field during a volleyball contest. Houses near the area collapsed and they fear that there may be people trapped on in debris.
