Mayon alert level stays
LEGAZPI CITY—Volcanologists observed that quakes were gradually decreasing while Mayon volcano’s sulfur dioxide emission shot up anew after an abrupt drop but they would not recommend a lowering of the alert level from 3 to 2 as the abnormalities were still within the alert level bracket.
Resident volcanologist Eduardo Laguerta said “although a major eruption is not totally of zero-possibility, residual pressures are possible to cause sudden explosions.”
