Miss Brazil is the new Miss Earth 2009
Miss Brazil Larissa Ramos was crowned the new Miss Earth 2009 at the coronation night held at Boracay Eco-village Resort and Convention Center in Boracay, yesterday.
Miss Philippines Sandra Seifert placed second to win Miss Earth–Air while Miss Venezuela Jessica Barboza as Miss Earth–Water and Miss Spain Alejandra Pedrajas as Miss Earth–Fire.
Special awards were also given to Miss Philippines (Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening gown), Miss Tanzania (Best in National Costume), Miss Tahiti (Miss Talent), Miss Czech Republic (Miss Photogenic) and Miss Switzerland (Miss Friendship).
Miss Earth 2009 Larissa Ramos will serve as spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme and other environmental organizations.
Ramos won over among 80 candidates from countries all over the world.
The Miss Earth 2009 contest is the 9th Edition of the beauty pageant which aims to promote environmental awareness and protection.
