Obama, Dalai Lama meeting probably won’t be public
WASHINGTON (AP) – The Dalai Lama’s chief envoy said Tuesday that President Barack Obama probably won’t make a public appearance this week with the Tibetan spiritual leader during a White House visit that is already infuriating China.
A joint appearance by Obama and the Dalai Lama before reporters could make tense U.S.-China ties even worse and further complicate U.S. efforts to secure Chinese help in settling North Korean and Iranian nuclear standoffs and crucial economic, military and environmental issues.
Still, Lodi Gyari said Thursday’s meeting in the White House between the Nobel Peace laureates would be an important boost for Tibet and for the broader U.S. commitment to human rights.
The Dalai Lama, who has met with every U.S. president for the last two decades, is a recurring thorn in U.S.-Chinese ties. China accuses him of pushing for Tibetan independence — something he has repeatedly denied — and considers meetings between the monk and foreign leaders to be an infringement on Chinese sovereignty.
This week’s meeting follows a tense couple of months in what the Obama administration has called the world’s most important relationship, highlighted by the recent U.S. announcement of a $6.4 billion arms sale to Taiwan, the self-governing democratic island Beijing claims as its own.
Former President George W. Bush appeared at the public presentation in 2007 of a Congressional Gold Medal Award to the Dalai Lama, but presidential meetings with the Dalai Lama have typically been held away from reporters, often in the White House’s private residences.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters Tuesday that he didn’t know if Obama and the Dalai Lama would make a televised appearance after their meeting.

Embedding Flash Video Software enables you to upload videos to your Web by converting and compressing them to a highly popular file format called Flash-Video (.FLV). Now comes the part where you need to publish your Webvideo(s) by simply adding a small html code to your page and delivering the files to your Web’s server. The final result of this process are streaming webvideos – they enable you to start watching them immediately without having to wait for a complete download.

Have just returned from a wonderful vacation on Koh Samui, stayed at West of Eden in Maenam which is less busy than Chaweng Beach, great resort and awesome bays. We rented a jeep for only 600 baht per day and would drive around the island. So many great places to eat, our favourite spot was Thai Food Heaven in Maenam which had the most fantatisc view over the beach, the staff was really nice and the food so yummy, we would go for sunset drinks. My husband and I had a wonderful time and will be back for New Year.

Barack Obama’s book, “The Audacity of Hope,” shows a appealing title. It has a taste of bravery mixed confidently. There’s nothing Pollyanna concerning this. I will possibly not support every part he tells, but he’s our president, and then for me, he creates belief. That may do more for just a country than any amount of backroom deals. Hope gives us energy, and energy sustains us through trying times. Boy, we’ve had them. I’m from West Texas, and I did not vote for Bush. When McCain ran against Obama, I used to be a citizen of Arizona, but I gave audacious hope a chance. The fight for progress and laying the foundations of prosperity is not over. I’ve come across the quips of those that don’t think Obama is able to do it. But step back a second. Would anyone have most of us fail in order to tarnish the star of an incumbent for whom they did not vote? Attempting to keep our priorities straight, let’s work together with this president and build our future.

Koh Samui Info Says:
I was in Samui for the last 2 weeks of March 2007 and had a extraordinary time – I always do! The grooviest part of the year is between late May until November (the monsoon season). When I was there, it rained a a couple of times, but then quickly dried up after. Many people visit in the high season (November to March) because of enjoyable temperatures, red skies and low rain. As a result tourism is at its highest and everything can be a little more overpriced. Hotels and tours can be quite packed and some tourist hot spots are not quite so laid back.

Been to Koh Samui twice now, first time was in May 1999, then back at Songkran 2007. What a awesome holiday place! It provides for everybody: if your searching for well-meaning locals there is plenty of them,if your looking for good food there is a good deal and nightlife is brilliant. If you want a affordable holiday, you can have it – if you need an pricy holiday, you can have it also. My friend is totally in love with the place and has just bought into a hotel over there. My kids love it too. What a wonderful place to celebrate Christmas!

Sometimes when I write, I just let the flow of the words and information come out so much that I loose the purpose. It’s only after editing when I realize what I’ve done. There’s defiantly a lot of great tips here I’m going to try to be more aware of.
