Stars…
Star bright, star light. Can you grant my wish tonight? The night is wild yet so calm and dull but the stars continue to shine so bright. Their fervent heat I see them grow, how luminous they are I see them glow. How I remember holding you tight in my embrace every night, I feel your warmth that caresses me. We’re both in field lying in the grass while enjoying the panoramic view of the dark vast sky. Oh, you are glad to see the face of the moon looking at us while I enjoy counting the stars. I looked at you, as I see your radiant face, and said, “I will catch you stars from above. I’ll get Sirius, Betelgeuse or even Polaris! The myriads of them I will garner to make you the most beautiful necklace”. Can that moment be more magical? I see you smile again, that everlasting smile that can launch a thousands of ships. But alas, the stars I’ve been longing to catch played a cruel trick on us. Is it written in the stars for you to leave me?
I was shocked by the words you have spoken. I felt like being deaf but I can hear your voice uttering those three words, so clear so loud. “I am sorry.” I am left dumbfounded, my throat left me out. All the things that have been said and done came rushing to me, hitting me then run. You now love someone else and he also loves you as much as I do. Questions kept on swimming in my head. “Why? What have I done wrong? Isn’t it enough?” you should have told me, you should have loved me more. You found the warmth of love in his bosom, you both have the universe. I feel angry, I do not, I feel hatred, and I must not. Yes, I know that though your love with him is infinitesimal, it cannot surpass a mighty fortress. Your love has been tested, loathed and repudiated by people around you. And like every martyr in history I play that part, I want to understand you. I am the only one who can help you now, be your sanctuary, be your friend. That’s how much I love you as the stars in the sky will forever burn their brightest.
Here I am, alone the fields looking in the dark sky. Dark is the night, the clouds block the view. The winds howled then the raindrops fell angrily in the rooftop. I can still find my way to be delighted for the rain seems to be a blessing in disguise. Rain; wash away my pain along with my tears without someone to notice. I tried to shout yet no one hears me. All of a sudden, a magical and surprising thing happened. The rain gradually turned into drizzle and the clouds soon faded away. My eyes can see clearly the stars kept on twinkling. The heart of this star-crossed voyager finds his amusement in the constellations. I wish you are here with me and I know you’ll find one faster than I can. I wish I can see your smile again, the brightest star in the night. And oh, a shooting star!
