Alienware M11x snapped

Are you ready to redefine your mobile gaming experience?

Dell surprised many people with its announcement at CES that the next Alienware machine to join the company’s hardcore gaming line-up would be a tiny 11-incher that had more in common with a netbook than a traditional gaming PC, the Alienware M11x.

But despite its diminutive dimensions, the M11x crams rather a lot into its tiny chassis. It packs an Intel SU7300 Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, a switchable 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT335M graphics card which can be turned on and off at whim, an 11.6-inch TFT display running at 1366 x 768 resolution, and a 250GB hard drive.

The Alienware M11x, with over 6.5 hours of battery life and weighing less than 4.5 lbs. will start at an amazing $799! Leave it to the folks at Alienware to enable truly mobile performance gaming at an affordable price.

Boogie Board powered by Reflex LCD

Posted by Tom Nava On January - 29 - 2010 4 COMMENTS

boogieboard

Do you have memory gap? Or often forget important matters so you always miss many things? Why don’t you try this Boogie Board, It can be used to jot down ideas and significant things in technological way.

The Boogie Board from Improv Electronics uses “Reflex LCD” technology which is a pressure sensitive, flexible plastic which, believe it or not, requires zero power to write on it, but does require power for the erase feature.

The erasing uses the power of a small watch battery, and it is good enough for 50,000 erasing cycles. Maybe it’s like an Etch a Sketch when you shake it, but you just push a button.

Just so you know, the Boogie Board has an included stylus, but there is nothing special about the stylus. In fact, any instrument, such as a fingernail, that can exude pressure on the board is good to make a mark on the Reflex LCD board. The user can make wide or thin marks on the board, just like writing with a pencil.

It costs only $29.97 at the Improv Electronics site.

Preview: Four-screen Apple iTablet

Posted by Tom Nava On January - 25 - 2010 3 COMMENTS

four-screen-apple-itablet-snapped-0

The rumour mill for the expected Apple iTablet launch on Wednesday reaches fever pitch.

It might look like four iPhones stuck together on close inspection of the pictures, but what you are looking  is actually really believed to be Apple’s latest gadget* that promises to revolutionise how we consume media like games, magazines, newspapers, music and video in the home, while saving virtually every industry you know in the process.

The device, we understand, will come with not one but four touchscreen displays that in total measure up to around 8 inches on the diagonal. The use of four screens will allow multitasking, something not previously available on Apple’s other touchscreen device – the iPhone. The new iTablet will, you guessed it, run four applications at the same time. Based on the company’s Spaces offering in it’s operating system OS X you be able to have one screen for video, one for email, one for Twitter and one for websurfing.

The Electronic Guitar shirt

Posted by Tom Nava On January - 24 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

electronicguitarshirt

Impress your friends, co-workers, or perfect strangers on the street or subway when you bust out your rock moves on your shirt.

That’s right, the Electronic Rock Guitar Shirt is a t-shirt with a guitar built right in.

Now you may be thinking, well, it must just be pre-recored music that starts with the touch of a button. But this Guitar Shirt is the real deal. Easier to play than a real guiter, each button on the neck of the pictured guitar is a major chord. When you hook this Electronic Shirt up to the mini amp you can play almost any song anywhere you go. The amp includes a volume control along with a tone knob so you can adjust your sound to sound like a real rock star.

The Electronic Guitar Shirt functions with a magnetic pick that is used to make sound by strumming it across the body just like a real guiter. The sound of the chords is recorded from a real electric guitar making your guitar shirt sound very realistic as well.

Facebook geared up into a real notebook

Posted by Tom Nava On January - 23 - 2010 1 COMMENT

An artist called Laura Balboa has coined the analog version of online Facebook, the ‘Feisbuk’.

Founder Mark Zuckerberg studied at Harvard, and built a site that allowed students to share information and photos of themselves.

Feisbuk, however, takes the idea back to its dead-tree roots, and includes printed pages with graphical elements from the website. The feisbuk notebook is a real-world, pen and paper manifestation of facebook, letting people jot down their info and draw a profile picture, as well as putting down something on their “wall”.

Dyson releases City DC26 in the UK

Posted by Tom Nava On January - 22 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

dc26-city-dysonDyson has launched a new vacuum cleaner to the UK market with the introduction of the City DC26 specifically designed for city dwellers that inhabit small spaces.

Initially launched in Japan, Dyson is hoping for sales success for the small scale cleaner considering  that according to its stats, over 90% of Brits are city dwellers with 2.3 million homes in the UK smaller than 50 square metres.

The City cleaner was apparently born from a James Dyson challenge to his engineers to create a cylinder vacuum cleaner small enough to sit on an A4 piece of paper.

The newly launched City DC26 is aimed at studio apartments and other small living areas where full-size vacuum cleaners simply aren’t welcome. It purportedly took five years of development to create a Dyson vac small enough to sit atop an A4 sheet of paper without any overhang, but it’s now available to London’s most cramped citizens for £249.99

Virgin Media to offer HTC HD2 smartphone

Posted by Tom Nava On January - 13 - 2010 1 COMMENT

virgin-media-gets-htc-hd2-0

Virgin Media has announced that it will soon offer the HTC HD2 smartphone, its first HTC offering.

As many of you will know, the Windows Mobile HTC HD2 is powered by the 1GHz Snapdragon processor, boasts a 4.3-inch touchscreen, HTC’s Sense UI, and offers a 5-megapixel camera with a dual LED flash.

HTC HD2 delivers an experience your senses have been waiting for. The unprecedented 4.3-inch pixel-packed display is stunning. The world’s first capacitive touch technology on a Windows® phone along with 1 GHz processing power ensure a smooth and lightning-fast response to the lightest touch of your finger.

HTC HD2’s expansive display is like a canvas on which you create a phone that is just right for you. Customize the phone by prioritizing essential features like mail, calendar, messaging, browser and more. Next, with just a tap, put shortcuts to the most important people, favorite websites, or most used application right on the home screen.

With HTC HD2, communication is focused around people rather than applications, so all of your interactions like email, SMS, phone logs, and even updates from Facebook are all in one place. Right where your instinct tells you to look – next to the photo of the person with whom you want to stay in touch with.

The 5 megapixel auto-focus camera is perfect for capturing the beauty of the great outdoors; combined with the dual LED flash it’s also ideal for capturing images in dim conditions. And when you’re ready to move from behind the lens and start sharing your collection, you’ll dazzle your audience with the large beautifully displayed pictures in the new river-flow gallery.

The HTC HD2 will be available for free on a £30, 24-month contract with Virgin Media, which the company claims “represents one of the most compelling tariffs currently available”.

Using advanced ARM processor technology, this smartbook is designed to “provide instant-on functionality, persistent connectivity and all-day battery life”. The smartbook tablet will include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth wireless, a touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard support with the option to include a SIM and a 3G modem.
